Academy 2023-24 Contract
Each ETHOS Entrepreneurship Academy student is expected to comply with the following program rules and requirements. In addition, all school and district policies apply in all classes.
I UNDERSTAND I am expected to utilize my time wisely by working hard in all classes and doing my best on classwork, homework and projects. My grades will be a reflection of my best efforts. I am expected to maintain passing grades in all my ETHOS classes at each grading period, or I will jeopardize my ETHOS enrollment.
Progressive Discipline in the Academy
Step 1- Student meets with classroom teacher.
Step 2- Teacher contacts parent and Program Coordinator.
Step 3- Student receives a Referral to Administration and Academy Counselor.
Step 4- Student meets with the Teacher Team and parent(s) and petitions to remain in the Academy.
Step 5- Student is removed from the Program.
Mentorship and Internship Requirements
Junior students must complete a career-related mentorship experience. The TOHS Majors program on campus will satisfy this requirement. Students can also sign up to meet mentors through their Entertainment and Marketing class.
Senior students are required to complete the thirty hour Internship in the summer prior to or during their Senior year in order to graduate with the Academy.
I am expected to maintain a positive citizenship and attendance record in each of my classes. If I have chronic attendance issues or demonstrate negative attitude or disruptive behavior that impacts the teaching or learning in any classroom, I may not be allowed to participate in ETHOS activities, and I may be removed from ETHOS. If I am suspended from school, I must petition via the online petition form and interview to remain in ETHOS.
I am expected to uphold high ethical standards. I understand that I represent ETHOS Entrepreneurship Academy on campus, in the community, and on social media. I will not engage in activities including, but not limited to, using any illegal substances, cheating, helping another student cheat, posting or sharing an inappropriate photo or comment online, or making a derogatory comment about race, religion, gender, body image or intelligence. If ethical standards are compromised, infractions will be handled by Administration, and I will be required to petition via the online petition form and interview to be considered for continuing in ETHOS.
I am expected to work successfully as a member of a team to complete projects on time, sometimes in a group of my choice and sometimes at the discretion of the teacher/s. I must be willing and able to work with all student members and to contribute equally on each project; if I am unable to do so, I will promptly communicate that to the team and the teacher. I am expected to participate in and attend ETHOS activities which include field trips, special events, and student leadership groups. Students are also expected to abide by the CVUSD discipline policies and procedures which can be found on ethos-tohs.org.
With my signature below, I confirm that I understand these rules and agree to be a positive, productive, and contributing member of ETHOS Entrepreneurship Academy. I understand this is a year-long commitment, and the contract is valid for the 2022-2023 school year.

- Sophomores who fail either semester of an ETHOS class (English, World History, Entrepreneurship, Algebra 2) must petition to continue in ETHOS.
- Juniors must earn a C or better in Marketing both semesters in order to advance to Senior year. Juniors who fail either semester of an ETHOS class (English, U.S. History, Algebra 2) or who don’t earn a C grade or higher either semester in Marketing must petition to continue in ETHOS.
- Seniors must earn a C or better in Virtual Enterprise and English 12 for Semester 1 and maintain these grades until Quarter 4 Progress Report in mid May, also called “May Day,” in order to walk with the Academy at graduation.
- Petitions must be received via the online petition form within five days of the semester end. Students who refuse to petition, or whose petition is denied, will not continue in ETHOS the following year.
- Students may only petition once for behavior and once for failing grades. Students who petition for either reason and have not shown improvement can still be removed from ETHOS on a case by case basis.
